We will have new rules in place when new congressional and state legislative maps are drawn in 2021 but we need mapmakers to be accountable to the voters.
Elected officials, candidates for office, advocates, public figures, and ordinary Americans are standing together to take the End Gerrymandering Pledge -- to show their unified support for our right to fair representation and a meaningful choice when we go to the polls.

What You Can Do to Support Fair Mapmaking in Ohio?
  • Join redistricting reformers across the country and take the End Gerrymandering Pledge.
  • Meet with your legislator (and candidates for elected office) and ask them to take the pledge as well.
  • Ask those who will actually take part in the new redistricting process to support the map that is the best for Ohio and focus on what’s good for the voters, not what’s good for their own political party. Specifically, ask them to work together to make a bipartisan and transparent map, the one that requires majority approval from both parties in both chambers of the Ohio Statehouse.
Please check out the Take the Pledge to End Gerrymandering Resource Kit. In the toolkit you will find:
  1. A sample letter and postcard text to send to your Ohio Rep and Senator asking them to Take the Pledge to End Gerrymandering
  2. Background info and talking points for you on Ohio’s redistricting process and why we are pushing for legislators to take the pledge.
  3. Resources for Social Media
  4. An info sheet to leave behind with your legislator.
