May 8th is right around the corner. Just as we relied on your hard work and expertise to get us this far, we are turning to you again to help us spread the word about Issue 1 and advocate for the strongest YES vote.

Whether it is distributing flyers at an event, talking to your neighbors, or doing a presentation to a group--we need your help!

Volunteers will also be able to order t-shirts and yard signs--more info coming soon.

Please fill out THIS FORM to let us know all the ways in which you are willing and able to help (and add in your own suggestions as well). We will provide you with flyers (and soon with buttons, T-shirts, and yard signs), as well as the talking points below.

Talking Points for Issue 1
  • Issue 1 includes bipartisan mapmaking and creates a more transparent process.  Issue 1 also encourages greater citizen participation.
  • Issue 1 is the result of a rare bipartisan agreement in the state legislature and will be on the ballot in May.  We are so polarized right now but Democrats and Republicans came together to address gerrymandering - one of the most partisan issues of our time.
  • This agreement is for bipartisan map-making which will help prevent hyper-partisan gerrymandering that favors one political party.
  • Issue 1 also boosts citizen involvement by giving Ohioans the tools to submit their own maps and increases transparency through public hearings.

Issue 1 vs Signature Gathering
  • Some volunteers are asking about whether or not they should still be continue collecting signatures. You are definitely welcome to continue circulating those petition booklets! However, volunteers who have been out at events have found that for every one signature they can get, in the same amount of time they can talk to 50 voters about Issue 1 and distribute 50 flyers.
  • In situations like parades and other busy events where lots of people are passing by quickly, handing out fliers supporting Issue 1 will be a better use of our time than getting a few signatures as the crowds stream by.
  • Let’s use the next eight weeks to work hard on spreading the word about Issue 1!
We have important work to do in the next eight weeks to push for a strong YES vote on Issue 1. Your energy and engagement will make all the difference! If you have any questions, please send an email or call 614-259-8388.

Thank you for all you do!

A big thank you to Arnold Schwarzenegger for inviting the Fair Districts = Fair Elections Coalition to the Arnold Sports Festival!

We had a wonderful time terminating gerrymandering and talking to Ohio voters.

The Guvernator also met with Governor John Kasich and legislative leaders to toast the passage of  congressional redistricting reform which will be Issue 1 on the May 8, 2018 ballot.
